Exploring My Creative Universe: A Journey of Storytelling Across Mediums
Hello, wonderful readers! It's Aspen Faraway here—though some of you may know me by my other pen name, Elizabeth Barstone. I've been up to a lot lately, and I wanted to share some exciting updates about my side projects and creative adventures!
Modern Office Girl Sitcom Series on YouTube
First up, I've been having a blast working on the "Modern Office Girl" sitcom series on my YouTube channel. This unique project is made using The Sims 4, and it's been such a fun way to explore storytelling through machinima. (For those of you unfamiliar with the term, machinima is a form of filmmaking that uses video games as the visual medium.) It allows me to create dynamic and engaging episodes that bring a different flavor to my usual storytelling style. If you haven't checked it out yet, I encourage you to hop over to my channel and take a look—I’d love to hear your thoughts! (Modern Office Girl Channel)
The Time-Travel Trail Bride and the Journey of My Pen Names
As some of you might know, my latest book, "The Time-Travel Trail Bride," was published under the name Elizabeth Barstone. This novel is a departure into the realm of adult romance, and I've been deeply passionate about exploring this genre under my real name, Elizabeth. I believe there’s a certain authenticity that comes with writing adult romance as Elizabeth Barstone, and I’m excited to continue this journey. (Not to mention, I had a dream in which a literary agent told me I need to use my real name. Not that I'm superstitious--although I am a "little"-stitious lol--but I do prefer using my real name of Elizabeth.)
On the other hand, I will continue to use my pen name, Aspen Faraway, for my teen novels. I find it keeps a clear distinction between the different styles and genres I explore. Plus, it helps my readers know exactly what to expect when they pick up one of my books. If I could find a way to go back to using my real name on my teen books, I would, but that would confuse readers I think. And after putting them through the initial disruption of changing my pen name from Elizabeth to Aspen Faraway, I wouldn't want to make it worse by changing it back.)
Children's Songs and Coffee At Eleven Entertainment
But wait, there's more! I’ve also been working on another side project: producing children's songs for Coffee At Eleven Entertainment, which you can find on my "Lizzie Timewarp" YouTube channel. This project is particularly close to my heart because it combines my love for music with my passion for storytelling. Through these songs, I aim to create fun, engaging, and educational content for children—something that both kids and parents can enjoy together.
What's Next? Future Projects and Reader Feedback
Looking ahead, I have a lot in the pipeline! I'm brainstorming ideas for the third book in the Zoey series, diving into book two of "The Time-Travel Trail Bride," and thinking of innovative ways to continue the "Diary of a Teenage Mom" series. One idea I'm toying with is bringing the "Diary of a Teenage Mom" series to life through machinima projects on my YouTube channel.
And this is where I need your help! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the idea of transforming this series into a visual format. Would you be interested in watching it? Please leave your comments below and let me know what you think!
In everything I do—whether it's novels, songs, or YouTube series—it's all about storytelling. Each project allows me to explore different facets of this craft, and I'm so grateful to have you all along for the ride.
Thank you for your continued support and inspiration. I can't wait to hear your thoughts and see where our journey takes us next!
With love and creativity,
Aspen Faraway / Elizabeth Barstone
